A healthy lifestyle with 80-20 rules!
Many are perfectionists and have a strong sense of “all or nothing” about healthy eating. If they decide to continue eating, anything with an ounce of sugar in it will ruin it. In fact, they only eat organic and only birthdays with apples in their hands, arguing that they do not really need sweets.
This sounds great, but it rarely works overtime! In today’s blog, we explain why this happens and how you can prevent this situation with the 80-20 rule.
What is the 80-20 rule?
Rule 80-20 is a simple rule you can follow about your health. If you are responsible for 80% of cases, you can easily offend a little over 20%. So you often make sure that your food contains fresh, unprocessed products. Fruits and vegetables, meat, fish and eggs, nuts and seeds, whole grains and vegetables.
But do you really like a piece of chocolate, a glass of wine, or a piece of chips? Then they are only 20% of you and you can eat them without a hitch.
Benefits of law 20-80
Why do you allow 20% of your food to be made into unhealthy ingredients? It's very simple: it prevents you from wanting so much of your energy that you finally have to give it up again. Even with strong discipline, you can make mistakes.
People who want to do everything 100% correctly often cause a major problem or even stop as soon as they are victims of the bite. This is very unfortunate! Over time, you will gain more if you follow a healthy diet often, even if it is in high doses.
Rule 80-20 in practice
There are several ways to apply the 80-20 rule in practice. Some people eat healthy food six days a week and allow themselves a day off. Some regularly eat healthy food at home and use 20% of that to eat or go out with others. Still, others eat three healthy meals a day while eating unhealthy foods.
The most important thing is to choose a pattern that suits you best. Do not make cookies for no reason, your appetite will grow before you realize it. Try to really enjoy your 20% and eat unhealthy snacks only if you really like them.
